Penny Dreadful has been whipping up her teleportation spells over the summer to appear at some comic book conventions and other events throughout the United States, she sat down
and wrote about her adventures as she met friends and fiends at the events.
PENNY DREADFUL BLAST AT MONSTER BASH 2012
At the Monster Bash 2012 all the creepies and crawlies came out of their crypts to do the Bash. How delightful it was to encounter such esteemed ghouls as Count Gore De Vol, Creighton and the Invisible Man from Ghoul a Go-Go, and Mr. Lobo and Dixie Dellamorto Lobo from Cinema Insomnia. Such horrific fun is not to be underestimated! Indeed, many have been forever marked by the words of the storyteller and his prehistoric puppets.
Garou, Dr. Manfred Von Bulow, Luna, and myself had a deadlightful time meeting Monster Bashers who haunted our tenebrous table. We had a chance to see many old fiends and we made some new ones too. As Vlad from Ghoul a Go-go was unable to attend this year, I filled in during the screening of GaGG’s newest episode. In honor of the new episode, a dance contest was held which featured Creighton, Garou, and the Invisible Man.
Creighton, ever the lord of the dance, walked away with the prize. I think they’re still looking for her. We were excited to see some great exhibitors this year as well. All in all, it was a hex-citing time. Next year’s theme is ‘Mars’ so get your spacesuits on and come on down.
PENNY DREADFUL LAYS SIEGE ON SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2012
Nothing can adequately prepare one for the madness that is San Diego Comic Con. 150,000 people converge on the San Diego Convention Center for the world’s biggest comic/pop culture/sci-fi/horror/fantasy/etc extravaganza.
Garou was off chasing squirrels or something, so my friend Scorpia helped me make the rounds on Saturday. We handed out free episodes of ‘Shilling Shockers‘ and copies of ‘Penny Dreadful’s Cauldron of Terror.’ I met lots of interesting people and creatures, and I ran into my friend Kerry Gammill of Monsterverse Comics who was sitting beside Bela Lugosi, Jr.
This was my first time meeting Mr. Lugosi, and he was quite the gentleman. He also bears a striking resemblance to his dad! I also had the opportunity to meet the great Mr. Lou Scheimer of Filmation studios. Words cannot convey how happy I was to finally meet him. SDCC was a blast from start to finish and I highly recommend experiencing it at least once in your life and definitely twice in your afterlife. After all, Comic-Con needs more ghosts.
Be sure to be on the lookout for more Penny Dreadful materialization’s at more conventions and events and be sure to watch Shilling Shockers on television and broadcasted over the internet. Visit the Shilling Shockers website for more information.
